2018-2019
In March of 2018 I picked up a film camera for the first time - my mom's Canon Rebel 2000. I had been studying photography for two years at this point, and I was curious about the process of shooting and using film, as I had only used digital cameras up until then. I enjoyed my experiment, and that moment changed my path, pushing me towards analog photography, something I have pursued ever since! It also began a wild two years of shooting, in which I ran numerous rolls through different cameras, reveling in the joy of exploring new places, trying expired rolls of film, and getting accustomed to the workflow that film invites. Although I wasn't photographing as intentionally as I do now, I believe I established a solid foundation for my style and body of work - well-composed color photos, mostly empty of people, that force me to pause and consider the beauty inherent in day-to day life. Without these experiences, I do not think I would have remained a photographer!
